Simmons Park Seniors Exercise – Lindisfarne TAS

Located on the Esplanade in Lindisfarne, Simmons Park stands as one of Clarence’s most beloved community spaces, offering a variety of play equipment designed to suit all ages and abilities. Adding to its appeal, the park now hosts Tasmania’s first seniors exercise park—a groundbreaking initiative that encourages older adults to engage in outdoor physical activity.

Developed in partnership with Clarence City Council, the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI), and Lark Industries, this facility is a vital step towards promoting active ageing and inclusivity in public spaces.

The new fitness park features 17 types of specially designed senior-friendly exercise equipment, ranging from balance beams, stairs, and pull-up bars to finger stairs, pedal benches, and step-up platforms. These installations cater to a wide range of fitness levels and goals, with instructional guides included to ensure safe and effective use. By incorporating exercises that target motor skills, balance, and manual dexterity, the park empowers seniors to maintain physical independence while enhancing their overall wellbeing.
