Children of all abilities now have a new destination with the opening of the Waratah Park All Abilities Playspace in Sutherland. This vibrant new play space has been thoughtfully designed by Ric Mconaghy in conjunction with Lark Industries, in line with Sutherland Shire Council’s Open Space and Play Strategies, ensuring it meets the needs of local families and children of all ages and abilities.
The centrepiece is Sydney’s first Memo Interactive Play Pillars from Lappset Interactive. This Smart Play technology connects to the internet to deliver evolving physical and cognitive games. The Memo offers barrier-free access for all ages, encourages multigenerational play, and remains future-proof through downloadable content.
Complementary equipment includes a Spiel-Bau net climber shaped to mimic grass blades, referencing the bushland setting while meeting maintenance requirements. Double flying foxes, a large dome swing, wide embankment slides with transfer platforms, communication boards, musical instruments, and a wheelchair-accessible carousel and sandpit extend inclusive play.
